Teddy Bears’ Picnic – Sunday 17th September 2017

The Teddy Bears’ Picnic is a free family friendly event.

Where: Lisgar Gardens, Lisgar Road, Hornsby NSW 2077
When: Sunday 17th September 2017 from 11:00 to 16:00
What: a free family fun day
How: Take the shuttle bus from the William Street carpark (behind Odeon Cinema). No parking facilities in William Street.

The Teddy Bears’ Picnic 2017 presents a rich and diverse program for children aged 5 to 11. Along with the much-loved parade of Teddys and carers, there will be many entertaining activities for children:

* Listen to Music (main lawn)
11:30 Hornsby South Public School band
12:30 Music by Jim Jam Music 
13:30 Hornsby North Public School band

* Move your body (Small lawn 1):
11:00 – Yoga for kids (Connect Kids Yoga) – 4 to 8 years
12:00 – Rythmic Gymnastic (Miss Rythmics gymnastic club) – NEW
13:00 – Irish Dancing (Derwent School of Irish Dancing) – NEW
13:30 – Circus performance (Circus Akimbo – Learn Circus Hornsby)
14:30 – Hula hoop performance (Spinjoy Hoop Dance)
15:00 – Hula Hoop workshop (Spinjoy Hoop Dance)

* Quiet activities (Small lawn 2 and bush area)
11:00 to 16:00 – Face painting (Colour Me Live)
Diverse times – Story telling
11:00 to 16:00 – Teddy’s Health check (St John Ambulance Cadets)
11:00 to 16:00 – Drawing and colouring area

* Pavilion – 11:00 to 16:00
The Edgeworth David Community Garden
Get involved in the community garden. The volunteers will be selling home-made jam.  Cash only.
The volunteers from the Friends of Lisgar Gardens will be selling home-made savoury and sweet French Crepes (vegetarian options available). Cash only.

Families are invited to come with their picnic blanket and basket, or they can purchase French crepes on site (CASH ONLY). Tea and coffee are available for a gold coin donation.

An inclinator / lift at the end of Lisgar Road facilitates access for disabled visitors and families with prams.

Parking near Lisgar Gardens, Hornsby NSW

 

 

Lisgar road is a no through road and there are no parking spaces. Take the shuttle bus from the William Street carpark or walk the 800m!

Park for free on William street, behind the Odeon Cinema and take the community shuttle bus!

Coming by train? The entrance to Lisgar Gardens is 15 minutes walk (1300m) from Hornsby Station. At the station, take the exit on the right towards Hornsby West Side. You will see the community shuttle bus in the carpark once you walk into William street.

Camellia Gala Day 2017 – Some pictures

The Friends of Lisgar Gardens organised the 22d edition of the Camellia Gala Day on Sunday 2d July 2017.

Here are a few highlights of the day:

New Camellia blooming season

Dear visitors,

Our large collection of Camellia has started blooming.

On Sunday the Friends of Lisgar Garden on roster can provide you with a map of the garden to help you identify rare Camellias blooming in the garden.

If you like Camellias or want to get more insights on Camellia and gardening join us Sunday 2nd July for the Camellia gala day in Lisgar Garden.

Sandy Marker, Sogetsu Ikebana teacher, 2015 Norman and Mary Sparnon scholarship winner for Australia. Sogetsu Ikebana is a school of Japanese art of flower arrangement.

> From 15:00 to 15:30, Sandy Marker will offer a demonstration of Sogetsu Ikebana.

 

 

Origami & paper craft – Hanae Bansemer
Hanae Bansemer and Sayoko Burton, experienced Japanese origami artists, Hanae and Sayoko enjoy sharing their knowledge and teaching others about different origami techniques and styles.

Lisgar Sessions at Lisgar Gardens, Hornsby

Hello friends!

Friends of Lisgar Garden proudly presents our exciting new event – Lisgar Sessions!

While the beautiful sun and flowers are greeting us, country music, capella music, Gypsy music, and world music, will ring their melody high into the sky, from 1:30pm to 3:30pm on 26th March, 2017.

There will be delicious French crepes (savory), Cafe, Tea goumand, and coffee for sale.

> From 12:00 to 14:00, Camellia bloom identification: Bring along your camellia blooms for identification – for every confirmed identification a gold coin donation would be appreciated.

> From 14:00 to 15:00, The Formation and work for Camellia Ark Australia Incorporated and the importance of Lisgar Gardens in preserving rare/heritage camellias. Followed by a short walk to view some of the camellia gems of Lisgar Gardens.

Composting is a fun and easy way to recycle your garden and kitchen wastes, and it improves your garden soil, save spaces in your red and green bin, and it can also save you money! Come and learn composting from the expert.

Balcony gardening including worm farms, Tanya Mein,
